Last day of the year

Bulgogi

Our last dinner of the year is Korean BBQ. We marinated our thinly sliced beef according to record found on the net. We are supposed to get sirloin beef but I am no expert in meat. Plus we are restricted to halal beef. Stil I was glad to see premium cut beef, just by the price tag!

Bulgogi smells great, tastes great and cooks in a flash..!

Artisan's Silicone Baking Mat

I was astonished to find my puffs roll off the mat as I pull it out of the oven!!
Otherwise these puffs will be sticking to the pan with no mercy. It also sticks to parchment paper. And a bottomless puff will do you no good.

Just look at how shiny is that bottom!

Crazy Amazing

Science Centre & Snow City

Abah got tickets from his office. It was our first trip to Science Centre and Snow City. It was filled with excitement and marvels...

Snow City: I mean how often does a kid in Singapore see fake snow or felt icy cold wind on their cheeks!! This come in the perfect timing when they are now just head over heels with Disney new movie FROZEN. Olaf the snowman was sculpted in there. But he was way too huge to be a cuddly character like in the story..

Science Centre: they were allowed to press every button they see or otherwise always forbidden too. Just taht was enough to delight them. Animals, reptiles, Fire, Sound, earthquake, Typhoon... all just

too much for them to even absorb in a day. Still they suck it all in.. not caring if they could read what the exhibition was about.. the just 

Cream Puffs

Durian custard puffs, Cream Cheese puff & Chocolate cream cheese puff.. how rich!

These were gone in a matter of minutes. Simply delish..

Here is the recipe gotten online somewhere

Choux Pastry, adapted from Rose Levy Berandaum's "The Pie and Pastry Bible".
Ingredients:
236g Water
113g Unsalted Liv Butter
1 tsp Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
142g Plain flour
4 large eggs (about 60g each) + 1 Large egg white * lightly beat each egg and egg white before adding into mixture

Method:
1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, butter, sugar and salt and bring to a full rolling boil.
2. Immediately remove the saucepan from the heat and add the flour all at once.
3. Stir with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a ball, leaves the sides of the pan, and clings slightly to the spoon.
4. Return the pan to low heat and cook, stirring and mashing continuously, for about 3 mins to cook the flour.
5. Without scraping the pan, empty the mixture into a mixing bowl.
6. Turn on the k-beater, and add lightly beaten eggs one at a time, followed by egg whites, beating them to incorporate after each addition.
7. The mixture will be smooth and shiny, and should be too soft to hold peaks when lifted with a spoon. If it is to stiff, add a little extra water.
8. Prepare a tray with baking sheet or silicon mat.
9. Fill a pastry bag, fitted with Wilton 1M nozzle, with the mixture.
10. Pipe puffs about 1 inch in size, and 1/2 inch apart from each other onto the sheet.
11. Bake for 10mins at preheated fan oven of 220C. 
12. Then lower the temperature to 180C, and continue baking for another 15mins or until golden brown.

13. Remove from the oven and leave it on the rack to cool completely.

Kenduri tahlil dan rotib di rumah cArah. Memang seronok bila keluarga berjumpa. Amat riuh! Makanan sedap-sedap belaka. Lebih lagi Cream puff yang saya buat untuk tempahan cArah.. hahha

Cake Pop failure

I wanted to make a gift for Carol in return for her Xmas gift. Also the sisters were gathering at her place that weekend. However everything went wrong. My cake pops wouldn't stick as I tried to recycle to white chocolate used from the last project. It had been wet and was too thick. I added oil but that just makes it harder to set. So my cake pops were sliding down the sticks!!

In the morning the girls were allowed to play and have fun with the pops... they did too without brushing their hair or teeth!They laughed as the pops slide down the sticks and finds them crazy hilarious..

For Carol, I manage to salvage 5 cake pops and 6 cupcakes with Mickey Mouse image..

Let's Swim

Initial plan was to go Port of Lost wonder that Zilah asked to organise. The respond wasn't good and she decided on a date we cannot make. So we decided to go today.. Throw in Hafiz's crew it seems like a whole lotta ppl.

There was a minor setback as we had planned to swim at Sengkang but it was closed. So we detour to Pasir Ris. It was quite just our kids at the kids play area. It wasn't as big as Sengkang and the their slides suck! as in we will get stuck mid way.. hahaha imagine skinny and light Hadirah had to crawl her way down while Hafiz mangae to glide as he was simply need gravity to pull him.. hee

Cupcakes 123

Learning to bake cupcakes with frens was a beautiful adventure! We squeezed some time for ourselves at the ending of the year was the best thing we did this year. Those cupcakes were simply delish. And the fact that it was made ourselves was just too sweet. A tiring but fruitful day..!

It was a last minute order to be done in 2 days! I panic big time in getting packaging, ingredients and trying out a recipe for the first time. My family sacrificed and helped me out as I struggle to get this order ready for the customer coming to my place for collection..

Minions mania

Just craziness... the minions didn't even put up a show. It was simply meet & greet. and the passes were given out as they wished.. silly!

Fortunately the set up of teh event was great. Loads of free activities and games for the kids. We were happy colouring and making book marks or collecting mask by playing shoot the Minions game.

Best of all, my family turned up and we had a nice dinner at Manhatten Fish Market. NOICE..!

Such free shoes no matter how short will always leave an impact on the kids. I can't afford to bring them to the real shows as I have a bigger crew than most others. $$ is usually the concern here. But I will try my best to let them have a lil taste of celebrity fun...

Kinder Surprise

This is Shysta favorite toy. She was crazy over the youtube videos of Dora egg by an Aussie guy. I tried to get her such eggs even in US but didn't find any.

Only the toys matter... No one bothers the chocolate that comes with it. Only Kinder Bueno will be licked clean...

Seoul Garden

My date with him this lovely afternoon. We had lunch at Compasspoint Seoul Garden. The bulgogi is crazy fun to eat! Everything else is just so so.. if there was much halal food to offer we can compare!

Otherwise it was great to have lunch date with him. This is a rare occasion..

McDonald's Happy Meal craze!

McDonald's extended the promotion but deferred the toy collection in December. Like 3 months later. Back then, I ordered online with thrifty Elisya who kept on scolding me not to buy too many.. 1 or 2 is enuff. I manage to buy 5 when I wanted all 9..! Well, they appreciate the toys anyway.

gardenia Wholemeal bread

Best loaf of bread ever...

Cuba roti ini.. kaya dengan bijirin - 80% wholemeal. Memang sedap dan baik untuk kesihatan.

Roti nyer berat! Pada yang tak suka bijirin akan mengadu 'penat kunyah!' Memang enak macam kek.. makan roti ini pasti lawas buang air besar... Hee

Roti ini tak tahan lama dan payah nak dapat. Supermarket besar atau Giants ada tapi tak banyak. Harganya $3.70

Pepperoni Pizza

This time it is strictly Pepperoni and mozzarella cheese only.
The mix Pizza cheese topping is not great. So I bought Moza block and grate myself.
I also do away with the bacon slices as it makes the pizza very wet and rather uncooked under the pepperoni.
My pizza dough is thin crust as the way they like it..

Pizza dough recipe:

240g plain flour
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 packet instant yeast
140g warm water
25g oil.
Method:
Combine Water, sugar and yeast in 1 small bowl till bubbles. The rest of ingredients in mixer then add in the bubbles ingredients till well combined (ard 7mins) If using kenwood Pakai J hook .....leave in mixer for another 10mins...then put aside ard 30mins...cover with damp towel sampai naik then uli lagi dah boleh taruk Kat pizza Nya Loyang. Bakar Sikit ard 5mins then put your toppings and all then bakar lagi. Bakar 20min.
1 adunan dapat 2 large pizza.

We decided to check out Bedok Mall. So i shop a bit and had dinner at Prata Wala. Nice Indian food although my taste buds were spoiled from the MBS outing..

His molar's gone

He went thru throbbing pain. We visited the dentist ytd. But the strong painkillers wears out too soon not to mention the gastrict pangs.

He decided to sacrifice his molar. Root canal treatment may not be a guarantee this pain may never return.

Since I had to work, he brought the 2 elders with him to the dentist. At work I was worried if these two munchkins could wait patiently for their dad to have his tooth extracted.

More than an hour passed, finally Lia answer my calls. They are done and heading home. Lia explain on the bloody tooth but Elisya said it wasn't as she described. Ha!

After lunch my sweet one confessed he needs my affection to get thru this ordeal. I knew I had go running back to his aid. Thanx to my understanding boss, I continued my work at home. Caring for everyone but he does get special attention. Hee.. get well soon lurve⊙

No front teeth

She lost yet another tooth in the morning. Her forth front teeth are now gone. She is already having trouble biting into her food. Her teeth is surely taking it's own sweet time to grow back!
My sweet girl is growing up too fast

Tooth fairy is something I need to learn. Daddy have been exchanging her tooth with monetary rewards. This time she didn't have a chance to tell Abah. By the time I got up, I panic and placed the coin under her pillow but I didn't take away her tooth!

She said tooth fairy didn't comeand I told her to check again. She found the money but puzzled why the tooth still remained. She blamed the big plastic bag she used to keep the tooth. Perhaps the tooth fairy couldn't find it because the bag was too big. Hee hee. 

So sorry sweet. Once you read this you'll know better!
