Finally managed to whip up a batch of Macarons with dark chocolate ganache. It's not perfect but looks and taste heavenly...!
Made it with my baby beilling too. An oven without fan.. ha!

To the Zoo

Taking advantage of corporate membership. We went to the Zoo after the gurls finish their madrasah lessons at noon. We soak in the waterplay and had an easy walk at the zoo. Thank Allah for the cooling weather..! SubahanaLLah

Elisya turns 8

My sweet Elisya is an honest and obedient girl. Eager for school and does well in her studies. Ummie and Abah loves you and wish you well in your endeavours. InShaaAllah.

Red Velvet Cupcakes with toppers

This is the second time I have a dozen of Red Velvet cuppiez as housewarming gift. This time I made cake toppers too
It was for Sunny Singh a colleague whom I couldn't attend his invite to his new home.

Family

The usual get together when Isham is in town. I made custard tarts, Suji bubur (this was a big hit) and Nutella fudge.

Ummi cooked Nasi Bohari instead of the usualnasi minyak. The regular epok-epok sayur is definitely served that day..

Uneven cupcakes

Look at the uneven cupcakes after baking. Simply due to the cupcake pan that has a slightly smaller base than the liner. Therefore the liners does not rest nicely in the cups of the pan. With that we can see the result of cupcakes that don't look very pretty... SubahanaLLah the wonders of science!

Cake in a jar

It was a mania of jars, cakes and cream galore. I took leave to help ChefNor meet a corporate order. I assemble the layered cakes in the jar. I was working way too slow and could not finish my work even when it's way past midnight. I wish I was a bigger help but I am just a slow coach.

The salted caramel was my favorite and simply in love with it's taste. I wish I can whip up one now!!

Crispy Fried Stuffed Tao Pok

Crazy crispy and remain that way even it's cold. This small puff Tao Pok stuffed with fish paste, carrots and green onion. Original recipe calls for water chestnut for that added sweet crunch.. I didn't even have apple to substitute.. but it still taste great. Serve with chilli sauce and mayonaise.

She lost another lower front tooth. While biting an apple, it turned into a bloody mess and still holding on. So I pull it off with her whining like a chicken..

Madrasah & Iqra @ Al NAsry

The girls are going on a new journey. Every Saturday is the most valuable lesson in life... InShaaAllah

Morning lesson is Madrasah and they are seperated according to their class levels. Later it will be Iqra' & Hafalan Surah, for this lesson they are in the same class.

BEN 10 Red Velvet Cupcakes

I took in this order as a favour for a colleague. 

Cream cheese is not the easiest to frost!

Also the image will bleed due to the high fat content. A fondant plaque is best done for wet or rich frosting. Another factor was I had to do it the night before thus image does not last long after frosting.

Cry bebeMika

On the third day of school she cried miserably while taking her bath. Managed to put on her clothes and she would cool down while drinking her milk. Then she is ready to go to school with Lia..

On the fourth day, the crying continues. this time she refused her uniform and wanted to put on her princess dress. like previously, she settle down after drinking her milk and we set off for school.

But today she starts to cry at the school gate as she remove her shoes. she wanted to be with me instead of being in school. Coaxed her to going for class and her teacher took her away from me...

Aww... I am really hopeless. I really want to see her in class, I want to help her in her activities.. I want to peep and see what is going on.. Unlike the older sisters where I would leave them to toughen them up, I couldn't bare to let this lil one go... haiz

At home midday, I asked how was school she said we colour humpty dumpty. She was able to sing the nursery rhyme too. when we asked if she cried in class she said No.. hee

my lil' one starts school. I can't seem to let her go. I keep on wanting to know if she is good, if she is fine... who will help her to the toilet? Knowing Lia is with her somehow doesn't comforts me.. hee

I took half day leave and when she has entered her class there was nothing more I can do or see. 

End of class, we waited patiently by the gate. there she comes! the two of them in harmony.. she calls for me to help her with her shoes! Her teacher helps her out and commented Shysta was so quiet. Unlike what she saw during orientation, well simple explanation was that her sisters were around during the orientation so naturally she was comfortable then. I asked if she had gone to toilet as I worry she may be too shy to ask. Oh she did go toilet during class today.

In fact if you asked her how was school, she tell you the story of her toilet break with confidence. "School toilet" she says

"I sit on the toilet Bowl!"

Lia goes to K2

Al NAsry starts today, Monday 6th Jan 2014. Lia plays the role of the big sister as lil Systa starts her school journey. Lia confidently guides her sister getting to and after class. Well done! Hope this will build your character and give you the sense of responsibility. Amin

Shan' s Nasi Pilau Beriani mix

It was a nightmare from the beginning!

the instruction on the box was incomplete. There was nothing instant about it. the steps were plenty and massive works to be done. I google to find if others had instructions for this and attempt to follow it.I was SUPER STRESSED even if it was my helper who was doing the cooking!!!!!

The results?! It was a tasty beriani dish but the botton pot of rice was too soft and clumpy.

Conclusion... Get away from such mixes since I have the ingredients at home. Follow mother-in-law's logical way of rice cooking was a better bet. I always hesitate to make Indian dishes as I worry to disappoint him since his family had great cooks that spoilt his taste buds. Anyway he was polite and loving saying there was nothing wrong with it and it taste good!!

my 2nd baby gurl by the way gave another picture..." Ummie, the rice taste different. It tastes like watermelon! So I advised her if fail at cooking or baking something tell me about it but its our secret.. and she said Ok Ummie.. Our secret!.. Masha'Allah the cutest face I've seen.

Mini custart fruit tarts

Kicked off the new year with Mini Custard Fruit Tarts!

the tartlets were ready made by Phoon Huat @$5.75 for 30 pcs. So all I had to do was mix some Bird's custard and pull some fruits from the fruit cocktail. Cheating at the the start of the new year may not be the way to go but hey, it was tasty and presentable to offer my guests today... AlhamduliLLah
